I’m making my first batch of liquid soap. It’s a shampoo recipe. ummm…It didn’t really go as well as I would have hoped. But it’s only a fist try. So don’t follow my lead just avoid my mistakes…lol :0) I’m useing the book Making Natural Liquid Soaps as my guide. I used SoapCal for calculating my recipe. And I used the Summer Bee Meadows method for using a 0% lye discount. Next time however, I’m just going to go with the 10% lye excess that the book recommends since I had a lot of excess oils laying on top of my soap in the end. The book is great but I did find I had to jump around in it more than I would have liked to in order to follow there step by step process. I may make my own step by step instructions. I will post them when I do on my facebook page. Here are a couple of links I found invaluable while learning to make my own liquid soap. http://candleandsoap.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=candleandsoap&cdn=homegarden&tm=7&gps=175_300_985_496&f=22&su=p284.9.336.ip_&tt=2&bt=0&bts=0&zu=http%3A//www.summerbeemeadow.com/ http://candleandsoap.about.com/od/liquidsoap/a/lyeexcessliquid.htm

I think there is a misunderstanding about this recipe. This is NOT for making some fabulous, wonderful stuff, this is for CHEAP, and for survival. I am a survivalist, this is to be used, when you are down to same base supplies, or pinching pennies to the extreme. So please people, stop telling me it sux, it is what it is, a way to help stretch a dollar, and to learn how to make things out of your base supplies ![]()
Base recipe
1 grated bar ivory soap
2 cups boiling water
dish soap add 1/4 cup vinegar
body soap add 1/4 cup moisurizer
shampoo add 1/4 cup conditioner

This is my recipe for my herbal tea shampoo. I used Nettle and Burdock to help with hair growth. Check out my blog for some other herbs that are beneficial to the hair and scalp.

I also use the Lavender Castile Soap because I love the scent of lavender. You can use the unscented baby soap and add your own fragrance using essential oils (like in the conditioner recipe).
I love this shampoo because it leaves my locs feeling really soft!
