Information on alcohol as a solvent: http://chestofbooks.com/food/beverages/Alcohol-Properties/Alcohol-As-Solvent.html

The more intense Clarifying shampoo I use is Paul Mitchell Three. The gentle one is Terax Latte

@teesha0 yep, I have SD and Eczema bad, no I am vigilant about products and buildup. Castile soaps did nothing good for my hair. Even gave my son buildup on his un-loced hair. Sorry to heard you had to start over.

omg. On my first set of locs, i jumped onto the shea butter and castile soap bandwagon. That stuff just sat on my hair and didn’t wash out. I ended up combing them out (since they were only a few months old).

I also have allergies and eczema issues so less products is more, for me. Sometimes before I wash my hair I will oil my scalp because it’ll loosen the patches of flakes on my scalp and they wash out easier.

  5. @lockedlesbian …
@lockedlesbian nothing will “Break Down” lint but the AVC will release the buildup that traps lint and over time a lot may come to the surface and wash out. In your pics the other day I did see lint. Some of that can just be gently picked out with tweezers

@Stereo871 It takes time to get the buildup out. I’m sorry you’re had that experience with salons.

@quotidianlight i may not use Sauve much longer it has sulfates and stuff. I want to be a product snob..but sometimes my pockets won’t let me. So 1 more question. Will this vodka and ACV help break down lint?? I dont think I actually have much product in there…

Thank you so much for this video, it was just what I needed at the moment, I was going to the salon, but the last time I went for this problem nothing was really done about it, i came home with lint and buildup still in my locs!

  13. @LeslieMoniqueTV …
@LeslieMoniqueTV yep, anything but water can build up if you don’t wash it out. Many people even Yt people with straight hair use too much shampoo. Dilute in a bottle! You can ACV whenever but it won’t clarify. It will help the scalp and add shine though.

OH my! Poor lady. Even us youtubers have better knowledge than the loctitions.
Is it true that suds get stuck in your hair too?? I know someone who has a friend who cut a loc and she cut it and saw dry suds.
You are are Dr. Locs!!! This really helped me!! Cuz sometimes I do fall asleep with a damp head. I think I have lint in my ends of my locs. That’s why it feel so hard!! But I don’t wanna relock it tho. Too much work! Can I ACV even if I’m not washing my hair at the time?

  19. @Cherished131 haha, …
@Cherished131 haha, good point. I totally agree. ACV is so much more gentle but it’s not enough for many people. I think AVC should be part of regular maintenance. It’s just good stuff.

  20. Oh…hecks no…I …
Oh…hecks no…I won’t be using CIROC..lol….Maybe a cheaper version….lol…No fortunately I haven’t been using any products with petroleum or wax and I don’t have buildup. ACV’s have a natural ph that helps your cuticle lay down and isn’t as harsh.
