Black Soap Moisturizing Shampoo – prt 2

posted on August 22, 2010 in how to make shampoo

part two – How I make all natural black soap moisturizing shampoo
My ingredients were;
-black soap
-Macadamia nut oil
-Jojoba oil
-Castor seed oil
-Veggie glycerin
-Honey Quat
-Distilled water
-Peppermint EO
-Tea tree EO
-Pomegranate fragrance oil
-Rosemary extract (preservative)
None of these products were complimentary from any company. I bough each of my ingredients with my money. If you would like some of my ingredients, here are some vendor recommendations. Do your research before making any purchases and I am not endorsing any of these. I am merely just suggesting vendors I have tried and liked for various products.

  7. @lovewater1 …I …
@lovewater1 …I left it at room temperature…My house is about 73 degrees. The fridge would be too cold. I used hot water as a catalyst to fuse the ingredients..the cold would only be a hindrance. I usually make it in small batches but I have had the soap for as long as two months with no issues. PS: I use a preservative…hope that helps..

You really seem to know your stuff!!. I don’t know if you have a degree in Chemistry, but your knowledge seem to suggest that or something similary. Any who.. Keep up the great work and I’ll keep watching. P.S. Love your accent! What is it? Will try to make the shampoo. Just got my african black soap today.

Great video! What is the shelf life of this soap? Also, should you leave it at room temperature during the 3 days or put it in the refrigerator?

  12. @nacala85… Thank …
@nacala85… Thank you and great question. You are very observant. I covered if for a few reasons;1. To conserve the heat which helps the mixed in elements bond with the soap structure. 2. The water added in would evaporate taking with it the glycerine and honeyquat. This would destabilize the soap.
    3. African women let the soap cute for about two weeks. I altered the molecular structure so I have to let it cure so it reconstructs and fully merges with the new components.Hope that helps..

Great video. I just have one question. Why did you cover it up and leave in for 3 days as opposed to just using it right away? What are the benefits of letting it sit?

@lillydot …I could do that if I am feeling lazy. Actually, there was a time I made a mistake and used the shampoo instead of the body wash for a whole week…good thing it’s all natural…. But I like to pamper myself so there will be additional ingredients in the body wash. I am working on a video for that…

another great vid! if you were making this as a liquid soap as opposed to a shampoo, how would you do it differently? no glycerin? less oils?

@Ceci2468 …Oh and I have never tried optiphen…I will look it up..I have used a thickener before though and it worked great! You should try a thickener as well.

  23. @Ceci2468 …Nice …
@Ceci2468 …Nice formula. I like to experiment with different formulations too. I might draw from your formula on the next batch. I am 15wks post so moisture was the main focus of this formulation. I didn’t thicken because I need very light shampoo to penetrate through the growth to my scalp. I will change it up as my hair needs shift. Thanks for your sweet comment.

Great video. I like to make my own shampoo also. I’m planning to make some with African black soap, olive oil, neem oil, tea tree oil, karanja oil, lavender EO and rosewood EO. I think I will leave out the water so I don’t have to worry about a preservative (or I could use some optiphen). I like the thicker shampoo paste. Thanks again. Your videos are very informative.
