Do I need to add something extra to preserve homemade body scrub?

posted on January 24, 2011 in homemade scrub

I make a body scrub using Epsom salt, honey, and coconut oil. I’ve only made small batches for myself and use it when I make it so I’ve never added anything extra to preserve it. I want to make some for gifts though and was wondering if something like vitamin E would be necessary to preserve it.

Thanks

No, the coconut oil will keep it preserved pretty well. If you are giving it as a gift though, you may want to add some vanilla extract or peppermint cloves for a pleasant smell.

Homemade Soft Scrub Cleaner

posted on January 16, 2011 in homemade scrub

This is absolutely one of my favorite homemade cleaning recipes. I love how easy it is to make. It literally takes less than two minutes. You can use this scrub cleaner on your shower stalls, bathtubs, bathroom tiles and grout, and bathroom sinks. In the kitchen, I use it to clean the sink, the top of the stove, and the metal drip pans. There are so many uses for this around the house and most importantly, it really works great!

Five different recipes for homemade Lip Scrubs! Each ingredient has different properties and will help your lip skin in different ways! Make sure you explore all the options.
I recommend exfoliating your lips once a week. Doing it too often may be too rough on your skin.

* White Sugar and Honey (Normal, basic lip scrub with antiseptic properties, safe for chapped lips)
* Baking Soda and Honey (For sensitive lips)
* Grapefruit and White Sugar (Excellent exfoliator with cleansing and toning properties. Not recommended for sensitive skin or before intensive sun exposure)
* Coffee Grounds and Oil [almond or olive or castor, or jojoba] (Plumps and tightens lips. Livens up tired skin. While moisturizing)
* White Sugar and Oil [almond or olive or castor, or jojoba] (Basic scrub, very moisturizing)

Can I make a homemade body scrub using baby oil and raw brown sugar?

posted on January 6, 2011 in homemade scrub

I live in a small town area with the largest big city is 2 hours away. Makes it almost impossible to find almond oil or anything else similar to this. I am wanting to make a homemade body scrub for christmas gifts but didn’t know if baby oil would be a good substitute. Please help! :) p.s. I was also going to use a unsweetened cocoa, coffee grounds, and vanilla extract.

extra virgin olive oil would be better substitute or any type of vegetable oil (canola etc) baby oil contains mineral oil which clogs your pores and irritate your skin. Brown sugar is a great ingredient for a scrub! your scrub sounds good enough to eat!

Will a homemade body scrub be weird for a Christmas gift?

posted on November 26, 2010 in homemade scrub

I’m 12 and my sister doesn’t want me to buy her a gift. I plan to wrap the gift nicely, but will it be really weird making a homemade body scrub as a gift? Do you think she’ll use it? (She’s 15)

It will be a very nice gift ;)

Homemade Scrubs

posted on November 4, 2010 in homemade scrub

This is a tutorial for a lip scrub and a hand scrub using four inexpensive home products. The lip scrub is made of honey and sugar. The hand scrub is made of salt, honey and extra virgin olive oil. To find amount of ingredients and instructions, please watch the following tutorial.

Also, because I forgot to mention how to apply the scrubs let me tell you now. To apply the lip scrub, dip your finger into it and apply as you would lip jelly or lip balm. Let is sit for 1-2 minutes. Wipe off gently with a paper towel. To apply the hand scrub, rub on your hands as if it was soap and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Wash off with soap and water 1-2 times (until your hands no longer feel greasy) Apply any hand cream to set.

Thanks for the view. Check out my other videos and my cute doggy! :D
