Homemade shampoo is not as easy as it sounds. Many a budding shampoo maker is put off when their first few attempts go awry. However learning to make shampoo is a black art that is definitely worth it in the long run. So here are some pointers to get you well on your way to becoming a master of the homemade shampoo and an connoisseur of the homemade conditioner.

When you start out, you should treat your first few concoctions as tests. In other words you shouldn’t get down when your shampoo doesn’t turn out the way you expected; it’s just a test result. As the old saying goes, “The man who makes no mistakes makes nothing”. Don’t expect every shampoo recipe to have spectacular results. There are many variables such as your type of hair, the condition of your scalp, and the quality of the ingredients. For example, people learning how to make shampoo frequently complain that causing them to have dandruff. Rather than see this as a failure, you should write down the exact recipe and make a note of the effects it had.

Next you should ask questions online to help guide you. A great place to learn is the Yahoo! Answers site. The chances are that your exact question has already been answered, but if not you can pose the question for a rapid barrage of responses. I just looked up for the example of dandruff and got the following tip: – “It may help you to use rosemary or tea tree. Maybe even an organic scalp massage oil.” It’s very much a process of trial and error, which is a good thing. Being able to master the art is an adventure into the unknown, and should not be feared but treated as an exciting journey!! It’s much more fun that way and in my experience the best homemade shampoo results come from people who enjoy the process.

Homemade Deep Conditioner Tutorial Pt1

Hello Youtubers, this is tutorial on how I made my homemade deep conditioner. If interested, you can modify this to how you want it. Emulsifying wax is not needed, but I do recommend using at least the Xantham Gum. I used the following ingredients:

1) Boil 10 oz of water and infuse with Burdock Root, Horsetail, Slippery Elm, Nettle and Marshmallow Root followed by 2 tbsp of Emulsifying Wax
2) Add the following oils:
3 oz Vatical Oil
1 oz Castor Oil
2oz EVOO
3) 3 oz Honey
4) Mix with a hand mixer and add Xantham Gum as needed

1st Homemade Honey Cinnamon Conditioner

I really enjoyed using this homemade product. This was actually meant to lighten the color of my hair but it turned out to be the best Deep Conditioner I’ve ever used or made. I absolutely reccomend anyone to try it. My hair felt free and bouncy afterwards, as well as very moisturized. I will make another video that’s clearer and shows my hair results better.

What to substitute olive oil for in a homemade conditioner?

Looked through some homemade recipes for conditioners and most of them require olive oil which i DO NOT HAVE! and avocado. Does anyone know what substitues can be used for olive oil in HAIR MASKS? oh and, can canola or sunflower oil be a substitue?

thanks in advance.

Canola oil doesn’t really benefit the hair, from what i’ve heard but i can be wrong. Sunflower oil would be a better choice.

MY VERSION OF THE HOMEMADE BANANA CONDITIONER

I had a banana that I wanted to get rid of and decided to try the banana conditioner. My conditioner consisted of banana, olive oil, coconut oil, raw honey and MSM powder. feel free to tweak the ingredients to your liking. you can use any oils that work best on your hair. As for my use of the MSM Powder, I know that you are supposed to drink it, but I researched and saw that some people use it in shampoo mixes or pour it into their conditioner bottles, so I figured i’d try it in a deep conditioner mix. You can search youtube for other versions of the banana conditioner until you find one you like best. PrettyDimples01 has a great one that may work for you. Enjoy!

Another One of My Home Made Deep Conditioner Recipe – Wash Day for Natural Hair

My homemade deep conditioner mix consisted of the following ingredients:
1 Tablespoon of Hemp Oil (Organic Cold-Pressed)
2 Tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Teaspoon of Jojoba Oil
1 Tablespoon of Castor Oil
1 Tablespoon of Almond Oil
1 Teaspooon of Avocado Oil
1 Teaspoon of Grapeseed Oil
2 Teaspoons of Coconut Oil
1 Tablespoon of Pure Honey

Mix oils in a hair applicator bottle and heat up (I boiled some water on the stove and place in it for about five or six minutes until heated).

Next crack open an egg and beat it in a bowel. You can either pour the oils in the bowl with the egg or as I did, pour the egg into the application container.

For some reason the conditioner did not come out of the application bottle like I wanted so I had to take the top off and pour the conditioner in my hand and rub it into my hair. My hair seems to love this as it immediately began soaking it up and in.

After 30 minutes under my cordless thermal turban heat wrap, I will wash my hair using my Chagrin Valley Butter Bar and then add some leave in conditioner and seal my ends with some of my shea butter hair mixture.

If you are looking for an exact recipe with quantities of ingredients, look back over my earlier videos or purchase one of my EBooks which have a lot of recipes in them. When making emulsified oil and water products (lotions, creams, conditioners) Always heat your oils/butters/emulsifiers on a double boiler, once they have heated/melted, add the water at the same temp, whisk and whisk, add a little guar or xanthan gum if reqired, once cooled, then add your preservatives and itty bitty ingredients e.g panthenol, silk protein, honeyquat etc
