Homemade-Shampoo

I have split ends on the end of my hair and i want a HOMEMADE shampoo and conditioner to seal them just for around 3-4 days. I know that the only way to get rid of slit ends is to cut them out but i can only have a hair cut every 6-7 months! Also can it please be made out of household items. I don’t mind if it needs to be kept in for a period of time.
I DO NOT WANT PRODUCTS AT ALL!

I want to try Prell shampoo for my oily hair, but my mom said she heard it can make your hair fall out and would probably take my color out. I think if very many people had this problem, it wouldn’t still be sold, but I don’t know…

No, it will not fall out. But it is NOT healthy for your hair at all!

When I had a chemistry class in middle school we made cupcakes where one of the ingredients was replaced with some sort of shampoo and they came out tasting just as good as normal cupcakes. Does anybody know what it was replacing/what the recipe was? I really want to try making them again!

Shampoo is not edible. It will effect the intestines causing diarrhea. It may have worked for the cupcakes to rise normally but they should not have been eaten. There is "natural" shampoo that can be used to clean teeth when camping, but it still is not meant to be eaten.

I’m 12 and my sister doesn’t want me to buy her a gift. I plan to wrap the gift nicely, but will it be really weird making a homemade body scrub as a gift? Do you think she’ll use it? (She’s 15)

I can’t go out and buy it right now. I bleached my hair the other day and used all my money i love the color but i need to condition it. It feels fried and looks messy untill i straightin it but still looks fried. I don’t have honey avocato or fish oil. But can someone give me directions on how to make something. please.

There may be a scientific answer, but the physical answer is that shampoos are detergents, that take bad stuff from your hair, maybe leaving it a little bit rough due to the conformation it is left with. Conditioners do the reverse, except they have no bad stuff to deal with — they restore the hair to a chemical form which is smooth and pretty.

As for the nuts and bolts, your 10th grade curriculum asks more than they ask in medical school. Jesus.

i cant wash my dreads with conditioners or things that leave behind residue and im looking for a recipe to make shampoo that wont condition or leave residues in my dreads. i dont wanna buy shampoo i want to make it for a cheaper price. Tell me any sites or recipes you know. Thanks in advance (:

Hey there,

A really popular way to wash dreadlocks is with baking soda. This website talks about "no poo", meaning not using shampoo but what they suggest is actually washing hair with baking soda (which works similarly with dreadlocks or brushable hair)

I have dreadlocks and I usually spend about 30 dollars on "special" dread shampoo. I figure it would be cheaper and a lil fun to make my own shampoo. I have a HUGE bottle of castile soap but I can’t find any good websites that show how to make a residue free dread shampoo. What are some additives that I should include in my shampoo?

BTW: My hair is dark brown with light brown dyed tips.

Try adding your castile soap with jojoba, grape seed, or other light vegetable or fruit oil with distilled water.

This is a tutorial for a lip scrub and a hand scrub using four inexpensive home products. The lip scrub is made of honey and sugar. The hand scrub is made of salt, honey and extra virgin olive oil. To find amount of ingredients and instructions, please watch the following tutorial.

Also, because I forgot to mention how to apply the scrubs let me tell you now. To apply the lip scrub, dip your finger into it and apply as you would lip jelly or lip balm. Let is sit for 1-2 minutes. Wipe off gently with a paper towel. To apply the hand scrub, rub on your hands as if it was soap and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Wash off with soap and water 1-2 times (until your hands no longer feel greasy) Apply any hand cream to set.
